There was a time we, a small business owner, decided to invest in a CNC router to manufacture parts at home. Weeks of research and collecting quotes led us to the realization of machines in our budget just we not available, were of poor design, poorly built or used inferior linear components. If we wanted a robust, accurate, repeatable machine we were going to have to design and build it ourselves.
A prototype was built; An ugly beast of a machine that continued to impress in all manner of performance. Realizing the power, the rigidity and capabilities of the prototype led to a dream that we could offer this to others as an alternative to the mediocrity in the field. It’s a machine which will not be competitive to the others, but a standard.
A commercial version of the machine was built. It’s sexy, it looks impressive, it looks industrial, but it’s the same ugly beast at heart as the prototype.
